GARDENING AT WINTER

Today, supposedly i have to work , i don't have to, coz the weather- is my reason, just typing at my phone for blog, there's a mild rainfall, its not freezing though but its 9degrees outside and it bite in the fingertips and toenails, as a gardener in part time basis its a broken day, like no work no pay. LOL!

Winter always arrives gently in the charming Côte d'Azur and we called it mild winter coz snow doesnt fall that much like in the north, where azure skies meet the shimmering Mediterranean, and it leaves a special mark on the work activity in the garden and lawns. In the winter months, as an enthusiastic gardener we have to dance delicately with the natural world amid the picturesque scenery. The Côte d'Azur's winter gardening necessitates a delicate balancing act between tending to the soil and shielding the garden from the Mistral winds,  sporadic blasts of frost and ample amount of cold rain.

The frequency of gardening tasks during winter varies, as the mild climate allows for a more flexible schedule. While the brisk air might deter some, devoted gardeners find solace in the rhythmic routine of tending to their green sanctuaries. Despite the pleasant/unpleasant temperatures, there are risks to contend with, primarily in the form of unexpected cold snaps. We must remain vigilant, covering delicate plants and providing shelter to ensure the survival of few cherished flora.

Common duties in the winter garden include pruning dormant trees and shrubs, preparing the soil for the upcoming growing season, and fortifying plants against potential frost. Mulching becomes a crucial task, serving as both a protective barrier and a nutrient-rich blanket for the soil. The distinct flora of Côte d'Azur demands specific attention, with exotic species requiring extra care to withstand the cooler temperatures.

Against the backdrop of the azure coast, gardeners find themselves engrossed in the therapeutic act of nurturing life. Amidst the vibrant colors of blossoms and the earthy scent of damp soil, they find a connection to the land that transcends the seasons. In this haven of tranquility, the winter gardener becomes a guardian of the delicate balance between nature's cycles and the desire for a flourishing garden.

Winter is the most tranquil season of gardening you have to do is almost none, its good for a regular or CDI contract, but for the part timer like I do, it’s a hell and stressful coz we have some bills to pay and we need some extra work to settle such things.

And remember, local folks says: ”There are 3W’s that you don’t have to trust in Cote de Azur, first W is the work you'll never know if you have it until next season or next week. Second W is The weather it always change a lot, be vigilante, always prepare ahead, your rain coat, umbrella and rubber boots and Third W is the women, Who knows!?”:)
